Jim Cali joined S CAP after a 34-year record of success in general management, sales and marketing, innovation and organization development in CPG. Jim honed skills as a marketer in the consumer health care sector during the early stage of his career for Warner Lambert/Pfizer. For the past 25 years, Jim has focused in the food industry, progressing through a series of leadership roles in sales, marketing and general management at Cadbury, Kraft/Mondelez and Kellogg’s. Jim was the President and General Manager of Cadbury Adams Japan, where he turned around a declining, money-losing business to a profitable sustainable growth enterprise. He was SVP and Commercial Director for Cadbury Adams North and South America accelerating innovation and growth across the region. Jim was promoted to EVP leading Cadbury’s $6B global gum and candy category and continued in this role following Cadbury’s acquisition by Kraft/Mondelez. During this period, his teams grew global marketing share through building global brands, creating breakthrough innovation and launching new businesses into large white-space markets like China. Jim subsequently joined Kellogg’s, leading the global category team for the company’s nearly $6B snacking business.
During his career, Jim has developed deep experience in the innovation space both as a practitioner and leader—developing strategy, coaching cross-functional teams, leading the company’s innovation best practice, and helping create incubator-like innovation organizations. He is a brand builder—both creating new brands and helping to grow multi-billion dollar brands like Trident gum and Pringles. In addition to a corporate career, Jim spent time as an independent consultant helping other companies establish innovation strategies and mentoring multiple food start-ups.
Jim enjoys cooking, snowboarding, watching his kids play sports and attending NY Giants and NJ Devil games with his wife. Jim likes to travel and has lived in London and Tokyo. He also serves on the Advisory Board for the Rutgers Food Innovation Center.
